First Baptist Church of Ardmore describes itself as "a place where people can meet Jesus, engage in life-giving community," with the motto "Large enough to serve you, small enough to know you." The First Baptist Church of Ardmore, Indian Territory was organized April 21, 1889, beginning with six charter members meeting in King College. It later merged with Central Baptist Church in 1915 to become Broadway Baptist Church, eventually taking the name First Missionary Baptist Church. The congregation constructed its main building in 1927 and has expanded multiple times since, adding a Fellowship Hall (2000) and children's, youth, and contemporary worship facilities. The church operates outreach ministries including a downtown mission providing food, clothing, and services to underserved populations.
